Mrs. Laura Ottmar is a mother, a twenty-plus years professional in the medical field and an involved resident dedicated to continuing the legacy of the Pacific Grove Unified School District (PGUSD) while also searching for ways to address recent challenges.

 

Ottmar is a California native and attended public school in the Bay Area. She graduated from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills with her Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology, graduated from a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Program at the Veterans Affairs Health Care facility in Palo Alto and completed a CT fellowship at Stanford Hospital. Laura is currently working as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and PET/CT technologist performing specialty imaging for oncology patients in our community. 

 

Laura moved to Pacific Grove in 2006, met her husband (Ben) in 2010 and they had identical twin boys in 2016. Early on, her children experienced unexplained health problems and have tackled a variety of health issues throughout early childhood. It is because of these difficult, but transformative experiences that she learned when and how to be their strong voice and advocate. Her goal is to advocate for all kids through education so that we can all have a better understanding of one another and each other's needs.  

 

Mrs. Ottmar is a PTA Member, Site Council Member and volunteer at Robert Down Elementary. In her quest to bring educational opportunities to the District, she has facilitated bringing speakers and programs on social emotional learning, bullying prevention and allergy education to PGUSD elementary schools. She is dedicated to being a voice for all PGUSD students and the community.
